Coming from a running background, with experience racing in Kenya, Europe and America, I made the transition into Duathlon in 04', representing Australia in an Age group team in 05'. 07' was a breakthrough year, representing Australia as part of the Elite Mens Duathlon team in Hungary and then racing both Duathlon and road running overseas. Other achievements have been winning the overall Men’s Victorian Duathlon Series two years consecutively, racing and winning multiple running races in Japan and South East Asia and now have my sights on Triathlon and trying to be competitive in the OPEN division in both Olympic and Long Course races.

How long have you been training in triathlon Ryan? 16 Years of running, riding, Duathlon and now Triathlon.

What does your typical training week look like?

Monday: Easy 2hour ride, Swim 2km. p.m Run 10km Easy

Tuesday: Run Session. P.m. Easy Bike. Gym.

Wednesday: Long run. P.m. Bike Session. Swim.

Thursday: As Tuesday.

Friday: Easy run. P.m Swim. Gym.

Saturday: Brick/ run/ ride session. P.m Swim

Sunday: Long run. Medium long ride. P.m Gym

 

What are your best times for the different race distances you have raced?

  • World Duathlon Champs: 37th Elite Male
  • Victorian Duathlon Champs: 1st 2007 and 2008
  • 10km road race: PB 31.40min

 

What are your short term goals for the future Ryan?

  • Be competitive in Victorian Olympic and ½ IM racing in the OPEN division
  • Race Powerman Malaysia and the Duathlon long course World Champs of Powerman Zofingan
  • To increase my involvement in coaching
  • Podium at Geelong ½ IM in the OPEN division.

 

What about in the longer term?

  • Sub 15.30min 5km running on the track
  • Race a Triathlon – Sandy Olympic
